How to upgrade RAM memory and Hard Disk in Asus Tuf FX504, FX503, FX80 laptops. My laptop already has 8GB of ram and now I am going to add another 8GB of RAM. This laptop has a dedicated slot for an additional HDD, and I am going add this 1TB HDD there. You can add sata SSDs too on this HDD slot. As by default it has 512 GB nvme SSD, I think normal HDD’s are ok for storage expansion.
Ryzen performs better with dual channel RAM and you will get more fps while gaming. RAM is upgradable upto 32GB (i.e. two 16GB stick), don’t add a 16GB stick with the existing 8GB. Both the stick should be of similar capacity for optimal performance. ASUS provided DDR4 2666 MHz RAM here, but due to the limitations of the AMD Ryzen mobile processors, they only run at up to 2400 MHz. That’s something to note when you are buying a new ram. You won’t gain anything from spending more for faster RAM because 2400 MHz is the limit.
ASUS provided us with four screws in the box, allowing us to secure our drive in the caddy. Of course, with a 2.5″ bay, you have the option to pick either fast SATA SSDs, or opt for more storage, but slower HDDs. There is only one nVME port and if you wish you can upgrade the existing one with high end SSD’s with more space. BEST BUY Links in Amazon
In this video I’m going to show you how you can reduce your AMD radeon vega 8 graphics size in Asus TUF Fx505xx model laptop. By default our Vega 8 graphics size is 2GB and it uses 2GB of system RAM to compensate for this. That’s why we get only 6GB of useable ram out of 8GB. There is no way to turn off this internal graphics in our bios but you can limit it to 512MB instead of 2GB. As a result, your SYSTEM RAM will increase by 1.5GB and you will get better performance while gaming and editing. Lets see how to reduce the ram allocated to Vega 8 graphics.
