If your handset has an older version of operating system and you are facing difficulties while downloading some apps due to old version of OS then you should go for Custom ROM. On the other hand if your device get affected with viruses like most of the time a big annoying advertise covers your screen or unwanted apps are being installed without your permission then flashing your ROM with stock ROM is the only way to rectify your problem.
Installing Custom ROM has so many advantages. They are specifically modified for that particular handset. There will be minimum Bloatware apps so no hidden battery consumption, better performance and most of the time it is rooted. There are numerous advantages of a rooted device. I will talk about that later.
There are several web forums where you will get your handsets Custom ROM for free. But try to get them from trustworthy forums. Once you download the Custom ROM or Stock ROM for your handset, unzip it and start your PC in device driver signature disabled mode.
Now install your device drivers. If you face any problems with installing your drivers watch my video on how to install MTK device drivers in the post linked above. Normally Custom ROM comes with the device drivers, but if you don't have it just google search it or comment below, I will give you download link of common software for all MTK devices.
After installation of device drivers we will start SP Flash Tool in administrator mode. Now select download agent and scatter loading file. Download agent is normally located in the SP Flash Tool folder and named as "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin". You can find your scatter file in the device Firmware folder, it is like : MT6582_Android_scatter.txt. Take a look at this picture to be clear.
Now we are ready to flash our android ROM. First go to format tab and check validation. Keep the rest as it was. Here is a picture for your better understanding:
Click start and connect your device with USB cable to the PC (most of the device get connected by this . If your device is not detected by your PC fist remove your device battery, and connect your device without battery with cable to PC. Now press and hold both of your device's volume buttons for five seconds. You will see a red line appear at the bottom of the SP Flash Tool and when the formatting is done a green tick mark will appear.
Now disconnect your phone and go to Download tab and click on download button. Again connect your phone to the PC with any one of the above method. A read line will appear at the bottom of SP Flash Tool and your custom ROM installation will begin. This may take about 5-10 minutes. Wait till green tick mark comes. Once the green tick mark comes close the flash tool, disconnect your device and start it. That's it, not that complicated. You can do it at your home, no need to pay the service centers. Find the following video if you have any problem to understand.
